English for Laboratory Staff
Target audience
This courses is aimed at laboratory and technical staff who need to use English to instruct other non-Danish speaking staff or students in topics such as health and safety procedures in the laboratory, specific laboratory techniques and methods, handling of chemicals and microorganisms, use of specialist apparatus and data analysis.
This course is relevant for people working in the following fields or related technical fields:
Analytical chemistry, Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Food Chemistry, Animal Science, Health and Immunology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology and Biochemistry, Ecology, Crop Science, Plant Pathology.
Course content
This course seeks to improve professional language skills in a specific field of expertise and aims to build confidence when using technical English in the workplace.
Classes will include tasks such as individual presentations, listening and speaking exercises conducted in pairs, group feedback and questions as well as language and pronunciation tips. The atmosphere in class is relaxed and informal and encourages knowledge-sharing and collaboration between people who work in the same field.
By the end of the course, students will have:

become more practiced at explaining procedures and methods based on the actual work they do,

achieved a greater command of spoken English in their professional field.
Course structure
Courses can be organised for groups or on a one-to-one basis and would typically include between 30 – 40 lessons, with 2-4 lessons once a week.
