Culture Courses
We customise culture seminars or lectures to companies and organisations engaged in work across different cultures, and to companies or organisations which have families to be posted abroad. For each country, including Denmark, we have a great network of researchers and experienced instructors.
Whether dealing with companies or individuals, successful intercultural communication requires knowledge of “the other”. Based on this, our culture seminars focus on providing the participants with knowledge of one or more countries’ history, culture of society, business culture, and norms. This specific insight is an essential requirement for a constructive intercultural meeting, and it is an investment with many gains. Furthermore, our seminars provide the participants with an understanding of the social and cultural customs of the target country.
Case
Seminar for the Danish bank Nordea, April 2011: Russian and Polish culture and mentality
From a Danish point of view, the bordering countries Russia and Poland may seem quite similar. If you ask the Russians and the Polish, however, they will say that they stand diametrically opposed to one another. So what is it exactly that makes these countries different and special – both to each other and to us Danes?
In order to provide an answer to this, the course presented the two countries’ history, culture and business culture along with stories the two peoples tell of each other and themselves. The goal of the course was to make the Russian and Polish mentality accessible to the participants to prevent them from negative surprises when they encounter these cultures hands-on.
