Danish for healthcare professionals
Target audience
This course is aimed at non-Danes who have a professional healthcare qualification from their home country and are planning to be or are already employed in the Danish health service.
Course content
Healthcare professionals
We run intensive crash courses for healthcare professionals who need to learn Danish as quickly as possible in order to secure employment in a Danish hospital or other medical organisation. The course will focus primarily on pronunciation and listening comprehension so that the student can immediately be part of a professional team and communicate with patients and relatives. From day one, we will practise using professional vocabulary and expressions relevant to healthcare.
The course will also include an overview of human anatomy in as much detail as required. We will also practise how to communicate at professional conferences and meetings and explain the conventions and structure of the Danish healthcare system.
Care assistants
We also run courses for care assistants working in retirement homes, care homes and so on. As well as working on pronunciation and listening comprehension, ensuring effective communication, we also cover the tone of voice and conventions that need to be observed when interacting with colleagues and in particular when talking to older people in their care.
If the student is required to write reports or medical notes, we will also include this in the course, making use of materials from the student’s workplace.
Course structure
The course consists of between 20 – 60 lessons depending on the requirements of the student. The course can take place here at Studieskolen or at the student’s workplace.
